More and more young people are choosing to develop in big cities, and the living problems are basically solved by renting houses. The lack of privacy and comfortable living environment has a great impact on people's life quality and inner emotions, while people in the same space have little interaction and communication.
So, we often think about a question: design can change the status quo of rental housing, to create a more rich communication space? So that people in the process of interaction feel warm, no longer a single individual soul.
In 2019, we were invited to design a renovation project for a rented house near the scenic area of Yingying in Liulang, Hangzhou. Adjacent to the List of National Parks of China, but its internal environment is worrying, especially in terms of spatial layout and daylighting permeability. The Ludwig Mies van der Rohe once said that space is fluid, so we call this concept into the design thinking of the whole space, as if it were.
Starting with the entry level, we set up a number of irregular visual flow spaces. The original bedroom area was replaced by a sunken communication area, adding more communication space with a strong sense of experience.
