- The Wack Group is a family-run company that manufactures vehicle care and cleaning products, as well as precision cleaners for the electronics industry. In 2024, the company moved into a new campus south of the Bavarian city of Ingolstadt. We are responsible for the design of the lobby and the corporate restaurant as fulcrums of communication: bright, inviting and full of surprises. For visitors, it is a place of discovery; for employees a unifying communication hub with a connective effect.
- The Wack Group’s new corporate campus is home to research, development, production, marketing and sales. Here the expertise and innovative power of an international leader meet a familiar work environment and an SME-sized ‘all-under-one-roof’ culture. All this goes hand in hand with the need for places that facilitate encounters and dialogue – across departments and business divisions.
- We designed the lobby as a space spanned by visual axes. Windows provide insights into research laboratories, a showroom and the corporate restaurant. They arouse a natural curiosity to peep behind the scenes and take a closer look at the company and its working methods. This openness renders the space inviting and establishes a relationship between different parts of the company.
- The first visual attraction of this customer journey is the sculptural spiral staircase, clearly and impressively ensuring the vertical cohesion of the three-storey building. A pool of water welcomes guests with the sound of gently gliding waves. The reflections in the water emphasise the size and openness of the space. In this way, we create a calm and natural moment of arrival, which also picks up on relevant themes such as transparency and cleanliness.
- The building is also a place that creates a strong sense of identity for the employees who go in and out of here each day. On the ground floor, a high counter table invites employees to engage in short, spontaneous conversations. On the upper two floors, numerous lounge and meeting areas extend the office areas of the headquarters. Agile situations such as the arena or the flipchart wall with a standing counter enable a variety of collaborative uses. The lobby building thus evolves from a static transit point into a multifunctional communication hub.
- The central place for meeting and socialising is also here: the corporate restaurant. A café area with space for up to 40 people gives the upbeat. Here we create visual connections to the inside and outside: a window connects the café with the lobby, while only a pane of glass separates the restaurant area from the café. The yellowish green tint of the glass partition wall alludes to the moment when water and cleaning agents mix. The large lights above the community table pick up on this association: they resemble the gleam and shimmer of soap bubbles. Tiles in a herringbone pattern demarcate the seating area, while the acoustic grid structures on the ceiling and walls ensure a consistently high sojourn quality. The finely crafted structures pick up on themes such as high-tech and precision in their design, thus bearing testimony to Wack’s brand essence.
