a collection of sculptural and abstract volumes designed by madrid-based architecture firm OHLAB, form a reflective, golden environment of this new relojeria alemana jewelry store. located in port adriano, in the recently opened marina by philippe starck in the southwest of mallorca. the installed program is compressed into five ‘precious boxes’, VIP area, temporary art installations, outdoor lounge, back office and signage – leaving the space in between the volumes as an exhibition gallery. three of the boxes are located inside the store and two more outdoors, extending the exhibition out to the terraces. golden stainless steel plates with mirror finish cover the boxes, their assembly is made with a deformed set of joints, and are deliberately curved, creating small deformations on the surface. the interior space is defined by three glazed facades and features intense homogenous lighting. a matte white backlit textile ceiling helps to avoid reflections onto the golden boxes, emphasizing the distortions. ‘the project questions and reflects on the concept of luxury proposing a game of make-up and appearances –where things are not what they seem… simple and orthogonal boxes appear as undulated and distorted while the environment of the marina and the mega-yachts is reflected as glowing, complex and sublime.’ says the architects.
